Two guiding principles of The Seeker's Table are that the spiritual encounter is a communal experience and that companionship is essential to the journey.
Almost all of the work we do together is developed with these principles in mind. That said, I haven't figured out how to make an introductory course collaborative...yet.
However, I still believe that doing these five days of investigation with a friend will dramatically improve your experience and insights. This is more than just helping you be accountable to yourself (although that is a bonus). Having someone to explore and process these ideas with adds an incredible amount of value.
If there is someone who comes to mind, someone who you feel is also seeking a more meaningful spiritual life, then invite them to join you. Maybe even invite a few friends and do it as a week of exploration together.
The second tip is to block out time on your calendar RIGHT NOW. No seriously. Right now. Find a time and place for each day of the coming week where you can spend 30 minutes in contemplative reflection. Personally, I recommend doing it first thing in the morning because I find that I am usually too tired in the evening to consistently follow through on my meditation, but you know your schedule best. Most important is to make a commitment and then keep it.
